Here at Stal Edda, we only have Icelandic horses. These robust horses are well adapted to the environment on Vlieland and live outside year round.

At the moment, Stal Edda is home to 25 horses, trail and boarding horses. In the summer, most horses are kept in the paddocks at Stal Edda and in the winter they get to run free in a nature reserve near the Posthuys, called the Posthuyskwelder.

Our horses vary in age ranging from 1 to 31 years of age. The older horses are enjoying their old age in the field or are still doing some light work carrying small children around. Over time, horses come and go, but on the whole about half of our horses have been imported from Iceland and the other half has been bred in the Netherlands. We have a pretty much equal division of mares and geldings.

Once in a while we have some horses for sale.
